To extend my wired network without drilling holes in walls, I bought a HomePlug AV-based D-Link DHP-W306AV. It has been reliable, insofar as allowing me to move my Drobo and Time Capsule to a closet from my desk. It keeps my office from getting hot in the summer and reduces fan noise when I take Skype calls. The problem has been latency and throughput to my devices across the house. Frankly, it makes navigating the Drobo in Finder infuriating.
