Fedora Core 5 io scheduler cfq registered hang fix

When I tried to install Fedora Core 5 x86-64 on my AMD 4600+ X2 machine and the Nvidia nForce 590 chipset, the installer either froze or hung after:

io scheduler cfq registered

The solution to the problem was using the following command line to boot when the bootdisk first loads:

linux noapic acpi=off nofb
