A quick shot at Barnes and Noble with my cell phone. Apparently, the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association belongs in the Abuse section.

Nope. The labels apply to the books on the shelf they are attached to. The general psychology section comes right after the abuse section. And since the APA manual is published by APA, it makes sense that it would be right after Dave Pelzer's books. Right below the APA books would probably be another black label saying "Psychology".
However, check the Writing section under "Style Manuals". They could be there too. :)
